THE Date & Adoption Celebration

Late last week we heard from our case worker that a c-section was scheduled for our birth mother!  May 2!  In a little over two weeks we will have this precious baby in our arms!  We are not exactly sure what our involvement at the hospital will look like, but we are hoping to hear more about that later this week.  Two weeks!...seems so surreal!

Last weekend we were totally spoiled.  My sister-in-law Lisa and friend Liz planned an awesome evening for us.  Mike and Lisa hosted an Adoption Celebration for us with our family and friends.  We had such a great time and are so thankful for all of these people in our lives.

It was an evening to hang out, eat yummy food and play some funny games.  Our friend Phil was in charge of games and he did an awesome job.  He put together an entire bracket of Minute to Win It games.  This was so fun!

Liz and Lee made it so the finals of the competition with Liz taking home the bragging rights!

Opening gifts for our babe from our great family and friends!

Me with the awesome party planners- Lisa & Liz!

Thanks Lisa & Mike and Liz & Phil for all your work putting the party together:) It was such a fun night!

San Francisco

We were able to take a vacation a few weeks ago to San Francisco!  We planned this trip as our last getaway with just the two of us.  So, we picked a location that we probably would not travel to with kids- at least not for a while.

We flew to San Francisco and then drove north to Napa for a few nights.  Unfortunately the weather was not great.  It rained almost the entire time we were in Napa:(  We still had fun and did some sight seeing and of course a little wine tasting.

This winery was in a modern day castle-

The views from this winery would have been a little nicer on a clear day:)

We took a winery tour through the wine caves at Beringer Winery- this is our tour guide Marvin!

We took a drive to Armstrong State Park to see some the the huge redwoods!

Our plan was to drive from Napa to Yosemite National Park for one night- well, our plans changed.  As Napa was getting soaking rains, Yosemite was getting it all in snow- meaning tire chains would be required just to enter the park.  We were bummed that we were not able to go there- this was what I was most looking forward to.  I guess we will just have to go back!

We instead headed south of San Francisco to Monterey, California.  Scott wanted to visit this area because they have a famous 17-mile drive on Pebble Beach- the golf course.

View from Highway 1 on the way-

this hole looks quite tough!

The famous Lone Cypress

We had to get Scott's picture in front of the club house:)

#18

We spent our last two nights in San Francisco.  It is such a beautiful and interesting city!

A view of Alcatraz

Ghiradelli Square

Of course we had to take a ride on a cable car:)

 the steep streets of SF

The "Painted Ladies" aka- the Full House houses:)

We took a boat tour out to visit Alcatraz!

A view of the city from "The Rock"

We had a great time despite the rain and cold temps (you may have noticed we are wearing the same thing in every picture since we did not pack for such cold weather:)  We flew back home just in time to catch the tail end of the tropical weather in West Michigan.

It is really starting to set in that we are going to be parents in about 4 or 5 weeks!  After years of waiting- the time is coming soon and we are excited to welcome this little baby into our lives.

We have not been able to find out if the baby is a boy or girl- there may be one last chance to find out in a few weeks.  We will just have to wait and see!
