Happenings

It has been over a month already since I last posted, so it is time for an update!

Scott and I having been going up north for our anniversary for quite a few years, so this year we made it a family trip.  We made the trip to Traverse City for one night in mid July.  This was Miles' first night away from home- so we decided to just make it a one-night getaway to see if he would handle it alright.  He did great (except for some fussiness in the car)!  We really enjoyed our time away on our first family "trip".

Later in July our small group went tent camping at Poncho's Pond in Ludington- we opted for a hotel this year with baby Miles as our excuse:)  We had a great time hanging out with friends, cooking for each other and having campfires!  We are already looking forward to next year's camping adventure!

The campground rented this giant water slide for an afternoon.  The kids loved it- so did the big kids (even though they came away with a few injuries).

The boys talking strategy:)

12 out of the 13 kiddos in the group!
From Ludington we traveled straight to Baldwin to Big Star Lake where the Scott's family rents a cottage each year.  We always have a fun and relaxing vacation here!

Miles was such a good sport with his life jacket on!

Maybe in a few years bud!

a great spot for a nap!

Last week Miles turned 3 months!  He is growing so fast!  It is so fun to see him grow and develop- it seems like he is doing something new almost every day! He is such a smiley little guy right now-  especially in the morning.  He continues to do great sleeping at night- and he really likes to eat...and still has all of this black hair!

2 Months!

Miles turned two months old on the 4th of July- he is growing so fast!  Our little guy weighed in at 12 pounds 9 ounces and 23 1/2 inches long at his 2 month appointment!  We are so blessed to have this happy, healthy boy as part of our family!

He started sleeping through the night about a week ago and we could not be more happy:)  We give him his last bottle of the day around 9:30 p.m. and he has been sleeping until around 6 or 6:30 a.m.  He is full of smiles in the morning (after his bottle, of course).

Our little guy is strong!  He can stand of up with our help and his neck is pretty stable.  Right now he loves playing on his play mat, but hates sitting in the Bumbo!  We are so in love with this little guy- he is such a joy!

Here are a few pictures from the last few weeks-

Peyton is a bit jealous of all his hair:)

Celebrating my 31st year with Miles!

Trip to the beach for Miles' first dip!

"I am not so sure about this Mom"

"I guess this isn't so bad"

Still giving the best cuddles!

Miles Matthew

Introducing Miles Matthew!  He was born on May 4 at 12:28 p.m. weighing in at 7 pounds and 10 ounces and 19 inches long.  He is such a blessing and it is already hard to remember what life was like before he was born.

The initial court date was completed yesterday and everything went as planned.  We will have a court date in about five months when Miles will legally become part of our family.

Time is going so fast and he has been with us for over a month already!  Here is a slide show of his first month as part of our family!

It's A...

Boy!  We have a healthy baby boy and he is doing great!  Out of respect for the birthparents, we are going to keep the details limited until after our court date.

Thank you so much for your prayers and hopefully we will be able to update again soon.

Ready?

We have spent the last few weeks getting ready to bring a baby into our home- buying baby clothes, diapers, formula..., doing little baby laundry, installing car seat bases, and putting together baby items we received at our shower.  Phew, I think we are ready...we hope:)

We also decided to put our house For Sale by owner in the past week.  Yes, we are a little crazy!  We own a piece of land in the back of our current sub-division that we hope to build on if we can sell our house!

Our nursery is as complete as it is going to get until we know if the baby is a boy or girl.  So, here are a few pics of our gender neutral (for now) nursery...

The baby's name is going to go in the frame on the right!

We cannot believe that Friday is almost here and we will soon have a little baby in our arms.  We would appreciate your prayers over the next few days and weeks.  As excited as we are, we are also a bit nervous and anxious.  We keep reminding each other to trust in God's perfect plan for our family.
